We are a locally-owned staffing agency seeking a Mammographer on behalf of a nationally recognized and merited hospital located in downtown Portland.
Two schedules available:
1.) M-F day shift 930AM-6PM; occasional Saturday might be needed
2.) T-F day shift 730AM-5PM; Saturday 8AM-12PM
Duration of Contract:
13 week contract with possibility for extension
Graduate of certified Radiologic Technology school or program in addition to required prerequisite training
One year previous experience in Mammography required. Experience in performing breast imaging examinations including breast screening, diagnostic examinations, ductograms, breast needle localizations, specimen radiographs, stereotactic (core and localization), and other related studies.
Must have good judgment, decision making and communication skills.
Registered Radiological Technologist - w/ experience in Mammography.
Position Description – A.R.R.T. (R) is required with current Oregon licensure. Must meet MQSA requirements for mammographers. Registration in ARRT (M) Mammography within one year from date of hire.
70% - IMAGING: Provides quality images with accuracy and efficiency, using optimal skills and knowledge of all equipment.
Positions patient for diagnostic imaging according to department procedures, training, and machine requirements.
Operates imaging equipment, determines and sets exposure factors, sets technique utilizing all relevant factors to ensure accurate and quality images with minimal and acceptable repeat rates.
Uses computer image processing to select and optimize images.
Presents exams and related patient information to radiologist for diagnosis.
Assists with patient transport by moving patients using standard procedures.
15% - DOCUMENTATION: Gathers complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service to customers.
Correctly identifies patient by checking patient's I.D., full name and DOB according to department procedure.
Reviews patient questionnaire and orders to insure correct examination.
Labels images completely with demographic, position and other needed documentation.
Logs activities, gathers charging information and charges exams as required.
Competently performs quality control and quality assurance, records results and reports variance from normal equipment function to meet MQSA standards.
10% - PERSONAL & PATIENT CARE AND SAFETY: Provides for personal and patient care and safety using professional judgment in accordance with written standards so there is no injury to self or others.
Protects patients and others in the area by using proper machine settings and radiation safety standards.
Practices universal and blood and body fluid precautions, and sterile practices according to procedures.
Clearly communicates and uses knowledge of related anatomy and physiology to insure appropriate and effective care to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Maintains awareness of patient status and takes appropriate actions to meet their needs.
Follows all departmental policies and procedures.
5% - PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR: Practices professional communications, appearance, conduct, punctuality, attendance and attitude that leads to physician, patient and co-worker respect and confidence.
Informs & educates patient and/or family of all needed information concerning the exam performed.
Uses professional judgment and presents a professional image of competency to customer and staff.
Maintains professional appearance, punctuality, flexibility, confidentiality and guest relations.
Handles stressful situations in ways that promote positive outcomes.
Must be able to perform all ranges of exams after completion of technical competencies.
Takes personal initiative to maintain current in education (journals, books, inservices seminars, etc.) in all specialty areas assigned.
Participates in presenting professional information to colleagues.
Full-time position, with overtime as required. This position works in a busy environment with frequent interruptions, multiple demands and continuous interaction with patients and other medical professionals. It requires being exposed to radiation, chemical solutions, and human tissue/fluids
Physical Demands & Equipment:
Ability to speak clearly, demonstrate patience and understanding of patients' needs. Must be able to deal with competing needs and priorities of patients and internal customers. Use of person computers, copiers, phones, and fax machine. Must have ability to stand, lift, and move patients. See attached physical requirements.
Starting pay is $38-42//hr. We are also offering a sign on bonus!
