A major teaching hospital located in downtown Portland, OR is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst.

This position is part of Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics (BIAA) and is responsible for developing and implementing a variety of business intelligence solutions for reporting and accessing healthcare information. The scope of work is focused on migrating client analytics and reporting assets from a legacy BI infrastructure including Oracle, PLSQL, IBM Datastage, and IBM Cognos to a new healthcare analytics stack largely focused in Epic Cogito Analytics, SQL Server, and SAP BusinessObjects.


Required experience developing in the SAP Business Objects environment, including hands-on experience developing BOBJ Universes, Crystal Reports, and Web Reports.

Developing analytics solutions against the Microsoft SQL Server 2016 analytics stack, including hands-on experience with Microsoft Transact-SQL queries, stored procedures, and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

-Bachelor’ s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and six years work related experience in the information technology (6 years) OR Associate’ s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and seven years work related experience in information technology(7 years), OR Eight years of work-related experience in the information technology field, OR Equivalent combination of education and experience.

-3 years of experience applying advanced MS SQL server knowledge in the use of SSIS, T SQL and database object definition

-3 years designing, developing, implementing and optimizing Oracle PL/SQL solutions.

-3 years supporting and maintaining a Data Warehouse and associated ETL in a MS SQL Server database.

-Knowledge of data warehousing architecture. Ability to read, write and maintain T SQL, define and maintain, MS SQL Server database objects

-Demonstrate Core Competencies as established for your position (Leading Self, Leading Others, Leading Leaders, Leading Function)

-Experience working as an MS SQL Server Data Base Administrator.

Preferred experience
Developing in the Epic Cogito Analytics environment, including hands-on experience developing: Reporting Workbench Reports, Epic to Crystal Reports, Radar Dashboards, CER rules, Analytic Registries, and SlicerDicer solutions.

The ideal candidate will also possess a good understanding of healthcare terminology and experience with the Epic Caboodle Data Warehouse and Epic Clarity Data model.

-Experience working as an MS SQL Server Data Base Administrator.

-2 years in a data warehouse environment utilizing Epic Healthcare Data and Research Data.

-Proficiency working with Apache Hadoop based open-source tools such as Hive, Spark, HBase

-Experience in a research or academic health care environment.

-Experience with HIPAA and PHI compliance.

-MS SQL Server Developer Certification

$51.53/HR (Negotiable based on experience)

Schedule: Mon - Fri, 8AM - 5PM

This position will work closely with clinical customers, IT staff and project managers to obtain and clarify requirements, develop, validate, test, and deploy analytics and reporting solutions. Solution development shall follow the client software development methodology and adhere to data governance, data security, change management, and report standards.
